When we decided to redesign the original S-Works Prevail, we knew we had our work cut out for us. How were we going to improve the benchmark in terms of fit, ventilation and comfort? By listening to our runners. Their main request was to position the helmet lower on the head.
The ANGi fall detector guarantees you unprecedented peace of mind: in combination with our iOS or Android application, it is able to detect a fall and sends a text message to the contacts indicated on your phone. You can also sync it with our Ride application or with STRAVA® to track your rides based on your GPS data.
We have teamed up with MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) researchers to develop the Mips SL system. This is a new version of MIPS, very light and very comfortable, available exclusively on some Specialized helmets. With MIPS SL, we have directly integrated MIPS technology into the helmet’s internal protective foams. The minimalist MIPS SL attachment system offers between 10 and 15 mm of rotation in all directions to provide the same brain protection as other versions of MIPS, while providing an additional level of comfort and weight savings.
We told ourselves that “thinking big doesn’t mean doing bigger” and set out to prove that big ideas can produce smaller things. It starts with the patented EPS structure, which is based on a multi-density foam combined with an aramid-reinforced woven skeleton. These technologies reduce the overall size and create a smaller profile that sits lower on the head to improve fit and safety.
There are also deep internal channels that are aligned lengthwise, while the exhaust vents are optimized for unparalleled cooling over the entire head. In the WinTunnel, we found that these new features saved 6 seconds over 40 km compared to a standard road helmet. Another outstanding feature of the S-Works Prevail II is the Gutter Action System that optimizes sweat flow, keeping it away from the eyes.
In the end, the S-Works Prevail II is the most complete lightweight competition helmet we’ve ever created, ideal for summer mountain riding and windy flatland traverses alike.
